Air-Conditioned Golf Carts at Houston National Golf Club
Houston, June 29, 2007âNo longer will golfers have to cook in Houstonâs summer heat while inside their golf carts at Houston National Golf Club.
As of May, Houston Nationalâs golf carts employ technology that will maintain a temperature about 35 degrees less than the temperature of the day. Even the raging heat of a 100-degree day will be tamed to a reasonable 75 degrees.
The open golf carts are cooled by the Coolwell G2 system which strips heat and moisture from the air and emits cool dry air on the back of the golfers neck. The process is computerized, and sensors in the seats make sure the air blows only when an occupant is seated in the cart.
"It is a challenge to create a comfortable playing environment in the hot summer months," said Jeff Sheehan, general manager at Houston National Golf Club. "But our new air-conditioned golf carts change the dynamic of the experience, making it fun again to be outside in the summer."
The Clubhouse at Houston National â Grand Opening Summer 2007
Stone Gateâs Houston National Golf Club facilities are expanding into a 20,000 square foot clubhouse. The Clubhouse at Houston National will feature a full service golf shop, well appointed menâs & womenâs private member locker rooms, banquet facilities for 300 guests, casual & formal dining, bar & lounge, and advanced a/v equipment and technology.
Houston National is known for challenging the most skilled players and entertaining beginners. Its large greens allow players of all levels to enjoy the 27-hole links style course.
Hi-Tech Golf Carts
One of the latest innovations to make news at Houston National Golf Club is that 102 golf carts have been fitted with a GPS-based course management system. This new technology was just approved for golf-course use by the United States Golf Association (USGA).
âEach golf cart is connected to a centrally located computer,â said Michael Garfield, The High-Tech TexanÂź, âwhich shows yardage from golf cart to hole at all times. Golfers can be alerted to car path hazards, speed control and unsafe areas.â
Garfield also explained that the system includes a two-way messaging capability that allows a player to communicate with the pro shop or the Stone Gate Grille. The interactive GPS caddies also feature full-color graphics of each hole.
Stone Gate Grille and Pro-shop
The Stone Gate Grille and expanded pro-shop have added on a large covered porch expanding the length of the building, that provides a view of the course and practice range.
The interior of the pro-shop has a distinguished look. Players can check out the latest equipment for golfers, enjoy a cold drink and a bite to eat, all while watching the barâs 50â plasma.
The Stone Gate Grille is open 7-days a week serving up hot food and cold drinks all day long. Members and residents choose the Stone Gate Grille for breakfast, lunch and dinner, even when theyâre not playing golf. The Stone Gate Grille also offers take out - Appetizers, Burgers, Sandwiches and Pizza. Current hours: 6:30 am â 8:30 pm, every day.
Practice Facilities
Stone Gateâs Houston National Golf Club has added lights to its practice range. Residents and guest are able to drive, chip, and putt well after dark, due to the newly lit facilities.
