Neighborhood Friendly - Canyon Gate Community

Houston, March 24, 2007 – Canyon Gate “friendly” neighborhoods join together residents for community wide special events and gatherings.
Canyon Gate residents enjoy professionally planned community events due to the hard-working resident volunteers. These volunteers work hand-in-hand with the Director of Community Events to create special events tailored specifically for each community.
Each Canyon Gate Communities has a Director of Community Events. Their role is to join hands with the Owners Association to help promote community spirit and good will. They will brainstorm with committee leaders to bring more events to the community, identify fundraising opportunities to support those events, and help build a network for volunteers and support.
In 2005-2006, the Canyon Gate Communities had a busy social schedule that provided residents with a sense of community, educational opportunities, and fun for the whole family.
Social Events
Safety Day – Residents speak to local authorities, including fire, police and EMS, about the safety of the community, and the best ways to keep families harm free. It is also a chance to learn self-defense, meet you neighbors, and learn more about the neighborhood.
Snow Day – Over 2 tons of fresh snow is delivered to the community, so that children of all ages can build snow men, make snow balls, and put on their coats, hats, and gloves for a fun day in the snow.
Fall Festival – Goblins, witches, fairies, and ninjas all come out for the community fall carnival. The festival has games, music and costume contest for the whole family.
“Egg”stravaganza –Join Peter Cottontail to hunt for over 5,000 eggs and enjoy the moon walk, mega slide, refreshments, and games.
4th of July Parade - Celebrate your patriotism with the community 4th of July parade and picnic celebration.
Luau Pool Party - Hula your way into the summer with our luau party. Residents enjoy tropical tunes while playing survival games, hula contests, nerf rocket launches, children’s bounce house, beach ball volleyball, piñatas for the kids, horse shoes and much more.
Education
Residents also enjoy continuing education with our Garden Club meetings and cooking lessons. Quarterly, a guest speaker provides an interesting presentation on topics ranging from “Native Plants” to “Mums and Monsters”. Houston National Golf Club’s own Executive Chef, Mag Morales has demonstrated basic cooking techniques while preparing a four course meal for our residents.
Committees
Residents also have the opportunity to be involved with current and future planning for the community by participating in several committees including Landscape, Social, Traffic & Safety, Athletic and Adopt-A-School.
Thanks to our committees and community events, our residents are friends, not just neighbors.
