HOUSTON NATIONAL GOLF CLUB TAPS LOCAL GROUP FOR MANAGEMENT
HOUSTON, TX. (February 28, 2005) - S-G Golf Partners Ltd., an affiliate of Land Tejas Companies and the ownership group of Houston National Golf Club, announced today that William Cole, Inc. of Houston will make an investment in the golf course and assume management of the facility effective February 15, 2005.
“The expertise William Cole brings to Houston National is key in taking the golf club to a higher level,” said Land Tejas co-founder Al Brende.
“We’re thrilled with the opportunity to work with Land Tejas at Houston National,” said Spencer Clements, president of William Cole, Inc., a golf course development and management firm entering its tenth operating year. “The golf course has come a long way in the last eighteen months and we intend to continue making improvements to the course, facilities and guest services.”
Jeff Sheehan will become the new General Manager of Houston National Golf Club. Sheehan has been Vice President of Operations for William Cole, Inc. since 1996 and is relocating from Maryland, where he was in charge of the company’s Renditions Golf Course. Sheehan is well known in the Houston area, having previously been Director of Golf or Head Golf Professional at several facilities, including Raveneaux Country Club and TOUR 18.
The 27-hole Houston National Golf Club opened in 2000 and was acquired in 2003 by Land Tejas, the developers of the Stone Gate Community surrounding the course. William Cole, Inc. is taking over the management role from ES Partners, LLC. Al Brende of Land Tejas was quick to compliment Elmer Stephens and ES Partners, saying “We would like to ES Partners for their substantial efforts during the past year in the renovation and repositioning of Houston National Golf Club. Their extensive involvement included the reclamation and opening of a third nine and the renovation of the clubhouse, which helped make this outside investment possible.”
